ICT in teaching

I want to know how can the use of computers at schools by educators be encouraged. Educators do not find the computers usefull and efficient method of doing work. They still do their schedulles manually and that wastes a lot of time. The learners are also affected because the are few educators to teach them.I want to know how can we overcome this situation sothat our schools can excell in computer litterate. Our schools are still running short of computer labs and there are not enough computers. Most of the computers that we have are outdated. There is no internet at our schools.

The issue of computer laboratories compells most of the schools to start teaching learners at FET level becouse of the lack of laboratories. I do not know how can we convince the Department of Education about this state of affairs, because it need to adress the issue of computer literate at schools. The educators as well need to be encouraged to be computer literate.

  7. I think we can start by implementing the basic ICT skills training for teachers in our schools. The training program may be a small venture at the start and it will grow as most of them see it taking off the ground. The duration must not be exhausting and it must be determined by their pace. The content must be contextualised so that it is relevant, motivating and interesting to them.
