Hi Bloggers
View my blog.
There is such an excitement about the world cup in our country in so much that lots of preparations are being made. It is going to boost our economy. Our learners should see the importance of ICT . In the world cup ICT will be used to get accommodation, transport ,booking for seats in the stadium etc. W e should motivate them to do ICTs.

WORKING COLLABORATIVELY WITH YOUR PEERS AROUND THE GLOBE

'Before this course I had been conducting projects for my students but I always felt frustrated due to the barriers that we had shared. Now I feel very confident and have a strong understanding of PBL.I had attended many courses from different institutes but the beauty of this course was the variety of ideas and contextual variation. It was really a healthy experience to know how people in different parts of the world work and how they resolve their issues. It gives a feeling that wherever you are all teachers have somewhat same kind of concerns and issues. Now I feel myself connected to the whole world.' Urooj Zaheer, Pakistan

ICT effective method of teaching
Hi Bloggers
ICT is the effective method of teaching. The learners they enjoy it so much that lots of their time they spend on computer lab working not playing games.

ICT adds life to Life Sciences at Livingstone High
Hi Bloggers
View my blog
An ICT-in-Science training workshop was held at Livingstone High on Wednesday 4 February 2009. The workshop was attended by Ashley, Lamida, Julia, Wardah, Zarina and Harry – all very enthusiastic members of the Life Sciences Department at the school and all receptive to the integrated use of technology in curriculum delivery.
The workshop focused on how to use the Data Harvest Sensors in the teaching of Life Science. The simple procedure of connecting the components (a logger and temperature and heart rate sensors) to the PC was demonstrated. The training progressed to the actual use of the equipment which is controlled by the accompanying EasySense software. The Life Science teachers spent a fun afternoon using the heart rate sensor and temperature sensor to measure aspects of their own physiology. Creative ideas about how the equipment could be used to develop a scientific approach to solving questions of a biological nature were enthusiastically brainstormed.
The training was hands-on, with teachers handling the sensors and the software on the PC. The presence of a Hitachi EIWB was a bonus as it allowed the entire group (and by extension the class when present) to see the data being

Definition of ICT
Hi bloggers
View my blog.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT) includes the full range of computer hardware, computer software, and telecommunications facilities. Thus it includes computing devices ranging from $4 handheld calculators to multimillion dollar super computers. It includes the full range of display and projection devices used to view computer output. It includes the local area and wide area networks that allow computer systems and people to communicate with each other. It includes digital cameras, computer games, CDs, DVDs, cell telephones, telecommunication satellites, and fiber optics. It includes computerized instruments, computerized machinery, and computerized robots.
In brief summary, ICT is a huge, rapidly changing, and rapidly growing field.

Biomedical science and ICT
Hi Colleagues
What are the current and future applications of combinations of biomedical science and ICT?
Identification of genes which cause cancer was actually a combination of studies which were done experimentally in biology, and computational analysis of the genes that cause cancer. The identification of potential drug targets for use in cancer was done by a combination of experimental biology and computational biology.
There is a reasonably good model for predicting heart rate, which can be used to test the effect of drugs on heart rate as well.
Basically, in the last 20 years, all life science research has
been accompanied by informatics research and that is increasing all the time.

ICT USE IN MY SCHOOL
Hi colleagues
At our school we don't have enough computers even for the learners. The computer laboratory is one and there is onother one on the way. As a result of that we are not encouraged to use computers. There is no internet on computers except on one computer for the clerk. The school does not want to spend on the computers used by educators. That is the reason why it will take a long time for educators to use computers for teaching.
Thanks

Excursion
Hi colleagues
Some few years back we went on excursion with life science learners from grade ten to twelve to St. Lucia's nature reserve for the ecology section of the syllabus. We saw what is called nature conservation there, the place is so beautiful, I still want to take my family there. The learners were so motivated and excited about the ecosystem there , in such a way that we had more distinctions on life science that year.I am encouraging you colleagues to take your learners there for the experience of a life time. Information about animals was computarized.
Thanks

ABUSE IN THE FORM OF RAPE
Hi colleagues
Most children these days are abused by very close relatives. This month alone , I read more of the children being raped by their fathers even young boys. Lets take care of our kids and be observant. We need to come up with stratergies to fight this cruelity againts our children.
Thanks

Hi colleagues
The current e-position of my school:
In line with the ideas of the former Minister of Education , Pandor , that providing ICT to schools is fundamentally and also consistent with modern trends throughout the globe ( Government Gazette August , 2004 ), my school has embraced this notion and introduced ICT as an important and integral part of the school curriculum . Although there are quite some challenges in the implementation of some my recommendation for instance in the adoption of digital media , the advent of ICT as a subject in my school has brought significant changes to the teaching and learning environment of my school. The advent of ICT in my school is certainly poised for greater heights as I intend to continue working in order to revolutionize the organizational culture of my school's technological landscape ( Saide, 2000 ) , which had hitherto been lagging behind compared to other schools in the region .
Thank you
colleague

Hi Colleagues
From this view, learning and development are therefore interlinked with the context within which they take place. It follows therefore that educators need to understand the social and or cultural context within which learners have grown and developed, how the learners themselves perceive themselves in relation to conceptualize the discourse community in which they exist (Mercer, 2004).Researchers on this perspective contend that it is communication, thinking, and learning are related processes which are shaped by culture (Alfred, 2001). They assert that the nature of human activity is that knowledge is shared and people jointly construct understandings of shared experiences. This means that according to the socio-cultural perspective knowledge itself is a social construct. The perspective is a constructivist approach (Vygotsky, 1986).
Thank You
